Dodgers Get New Word on Tarik Skubal Amid Tigers Trade Rumors

Detroit Tigers pitcher Tarik Skubal.

With the signings of outfielder Kyle Tucker and pitcher Edwin Diaz, the Los Angeles Dodgers have already put together a massive offseason. The back-to-back defending champs are widely considered the favorites again next season.

However, the Dodgers have not shown that they’re ever content with what they have. For weeks, the team has been linked to a possible trade for Detroit Tigers star pitcher Tarik Skubal.

The back-to-back Cy Young winner wants a contract, but the Tigers are playing hardball. This has led to rumors that he could get traded. The Dodgers are one of the teams that have the assets and the money to give the Tigers and Skubal what they want.

Even though the rumors of a Dodgers trade have cooled down, The Athletic’s Jim Bowden believes that Skubal will be traded before Opening Day.

“Detroit would still like to sign him to a long-term contract but it’s difficult to see that happening with how far apart both sides are on a deal,” Bowden wrote. “The Tigers have listened to trade offers and at least talked about the “ballpark” parameters it would take to trade him. According to club sources, the asking price is so significant that it is unlikely a trade happens unless Detroit lowers its sights significantly.”

Skubal Might Want to Test Free Agency

The Tigers don’t want to move on from Skubal. He’s arguably the best pitcher in the world right now and is still in his 20s.

Instead of trading him, the Tigers could hold onto him in hopes of convincing him to sign. Bowden believes that would be the best-case scenario for Skubal.

“I’ve also been told by some rival executives that they think it makes more sense to wait until Skubal is a free agent rather than emptying their farm system for just one year of his services,” Bowden wrote. “At this point, Detroit could trade him now, or wait until the trade deadline when the return would be less, or do what the Angels did with Shohei Ohtani and wait until he leaves in free agency and get just draft pick compensation for him.”

This could be ideal for the Dodgers, as they’d likely be able to outbid most teams for Skubal and wouldn’t have to give up anything in a trade in the process.

Tigers Can’t Let Skubal Walk for Nothing

While the Tigers don’t seem eager to trade Skubal, letting him walk in free agency for nothing would be a disaster. He could bring Detroit a massive haul in a trade.

The Tigers are going to need to make a decision soon, which is why Bowden still believes that Skubal’s future is elsewhere.

“It will be interesting to see what happens, but I can tell you if I were Detroit, I would try to do everything I could to sign him to a contract extension and if I couldn’t do it by a certain date in March, I would trade him for the biggest return I could get rather than risk losing him for little compensation later,” Bowden wrote.

Behind-the-scenes drama unfolds on RHONJ as producers reportedly finalize four women for Season 15 — with Danielle and Rachel’s futures unclear and one ex-Housewife rumored to be circling back

Real Housewives of New Jersey

producers are reportedly “continuing to scramble” to save the show.

Nearly a year and a half after the final episode of season 14 aired, and after Jennifer Aydin, 48, confirmed her departure from the Bravo reality series, there are said to be just four women who are likely to return as a former member of the show is being considered.

“What they keep coming back to is the same issue,” an insider explained to Radar Online on January 23. “The cast right now is still really good. It’s just a matter of trying to figure out how to make it work with them, as last season was more or less impossible. While Jen Aydin confirmed she’s not back and

Rachel Fuda is not expected to return as well, there’s still a solid foundation with Teresa GiudiceMelissa GorgaDolores Catania, and Margaret Josephs.”

As for

Danielle Cabral, 40, the source said she could return, too.

“But all of these women have had major issues with one another in the past,” they continued. “Even though Melissa and Teresa made up, there’s obviously still potential for drama as the reconciliation is new. And Margaret and Teresa don’t have a relationship… and Danielle also had issues with Teresa.”

The source then noted that bringing back Kim DePaola, 65, was an option since she is not “scared of the drama.”

“She’s friends with Melissa now. She’s friends with Margaret. And she’s always managed to navigate drama with Teresa and still come out alive,” the insider noted. “She knows all of these women well — their history, their relationships, their ups and downs, and how to work a room with them all.”

Although producers have also allegedly considered new cast members and even arranged for them to test film with the remaining cast, the source went on to say that bringing back someone with a history with the women might be the better option.

“What [Andy Cohen] and Bravo will ultimately do remains to be seen, but this would definitely be a simpler solution than continuing to comb through women who don’t end up performing well on camera and who have no history with the existing group,” the insider added.

RHOBH Star & Her Fiancé Give Major Wedding Update

Bozoma Saint John will be sending out two save-the-dates for her upcoming nuptials.

During a January 2026 appearance on “Watch What Happens Live,” the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star and her fiancé confirmed they will be exchanging “I dos” twice later this year.

After Bravo host Andy Cohen asked Watson when the weddings would take place, the businessman and entrepreneur happily obliged after checking with Saint John, 49, who told him he “might as well” spill the details.

“I can answer that, we do have two dates, we’ve got the Ghana wedding August 21, and then the L.A. wedding is November 21,” Watson confirmed.

“We’re doing two! And they’re progressively getting bigger,” he added.

Saint John later commented on the WWHL clip on social media. “It’s a BIG year for us @keelywatson,” she wrote.

This isn’t the first time the bride-to-be has dished on her wedding dates. Saint John previously told The Daily Dish she and Watson were planning “a traditional Ghanaian wedding in Ghana” along with “an American wedding with the white dress and the whole thing.” But the plan was originally to host both weddings during the summer of 2026.

“We’re, you know, busy planning!” she said of the ceremonies. “Just knock them out, pow pow. It’s very exciting.”

Watson popped the question to Saint John in August 2025 at BOA Steakhouse in West Hollywood, California, as Bravo cameras rolled.

The future groom told People magazine he went all out with “a mega bouquet of 100 roses” that he presented to Saint John before proposing to her with a custom diamond engagement ring. “I lined the walkway with a red carpet and candles, and I built a canopy draped in red to propose under,” he shared. “Around the canopy, there were more roses and candles.”

Saint John told the outlet that she was in “shock and disbelief” over the proposal, which she wasn’t expecting at that time.

Watson’s extravagant proposal came 12 years after the death of Saint John’s first husband, Peter Saint John. The RHOBH star later posted to Instagram to share that her story is proof that love can be found again after the worst of grief.

“This engagement is my testimony,” Saint John wrote. “You can rise from grief, reclaim your joy, and still find a love worthy of your YES.”

“My love, Keely, you are proof that God’s timing is perfect—and so is His plan. I’m saying yes to life, to love, and to the miracle of second chances. I love you with everything that I am,” the RHOBH star wrote.
