Dodgers might not have a weakness after A+ offseason, according to former MLB GM

The Los Angeles Dodgers have won back-to-back World Series championships, one a dominant showing against the New York Yankees, and the other an extra-inning thriller against the Toronto Blue Jays.

But the Dodgers had some big weaknesses last year, and this offseason, they aimed to fix those holes. And boy, did they. Kyle Tucker and Edwin Diaz are now both Dodgers, plugging the holes at closer and in the outfield.

Now, after those two moves, do the Dodgers have any weaknesses? Well, based on Jim Bowden of The Athletic’s comments on their offseason, it’s hard to say that the Dodgers have any such weaknesses left after their A+ offseason.

Dodgers have no weakness after A+ offseason

“The Dodgers have won back-to-back titles and had only two real weaknesses last year – no impact closer and below-average defense in right field,” Bowden writes. “Well, they addressed both of those areas, signing the top closer in the NL, Edwin Diaz, and the top overall free agent, Kyle Tucker, to play right field.”

As if the Dodgers weren’t stacked enough as they already were, they weren’t out and added the best closer available this offseason, and the best overall free agent on the market this offseason.

The only thing stopping the Dodgers from being a truly unstoppable force would be a blockbuster trade for Tarik Skubal with the Detroit Tigers. It’s very much within the realm of possibility with the Dodgers’ good farm system and good MLB options for a deal.

But, even without such a move, the Dodgers’ offseason is already an A+ with their additions of Tucker and Diaz. It doesn’t get much better than what the Dodgers have right now.

With the additions of Tucker and Diaz, the Dodgers have no real weakness. Teams won’t be able to exploit one player or one phase of the game anymore when facing the Dodgers.

It’s either be beaten by the best team in the league or overcome big odds against the top team in the league. The Dodgers have built a super team, and that was before the additions of Tucker and Diaz to the roster.

“It’s Hard To Bet Against the Chiefs”: PFF Analyst Believes That the Kansas City Chiefs Will Get Back To the Playoffs In 2026

The Kansas City Chiefs finished with an 6-11 record last season and missed the playoffs. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes missed the final three games of the season with a torn ACL and there are questions if he is going to be ready for the 2026 NFL season. Kansas City decided not to bring back Matt Nagy as the offensive coordinator and Eric Bieniemy is back as the offensive coordinator.

If Mahomes is not ready for the 2026 season, is there a chance that the year could be a punt year under head coach Andy Reid? Some people believe that Kansas City could potentially get back to the playoffs next season, but the AFC West will brutal again. Could the Chiefs finish in last next season? Or are they closer to getting back to the postseason once again?

Profootballfocus.com writer Zoltan Buday wrote about three teams who missed the playoffs this season, who could potentially get back in the playoffs next season. Two of the teams he mentioned was the Detroit Lions and the Baltimore Ravens. However, the one that stands out the most is Kansas City. The Chiefs might be in the worst spot of the three teams that Buday mentioned. He said,

“Regardless of how the 2025 season unfolded, it’s hard to bet against the Chiefs withPatrick Mahomesunder center.

There are indeed plenty of question marks surrounding his receiving corps, including whether tight endTravis Kelcewill return for his 14th NFL season and regarding which young receiver can take a step forward betweenXavier WorthyandRashee Rice.

Otherwise, the team’s offensive line, when healthy, looked steady in 2025. Rookie left tackleJosh Simmonsshowed promising signs (75.5 PFF pass-blocking grade), whileKingsley Suamataiatook a big step forward at guard (65.1 PFF overall grade) in his second NFL season. Right tackle might be a concern due toJawaan Taylor‘s performance over the past couple of seasons, but otherwise, the front should not be a long-term issue.

Similar to past seasons, the Chiefs’ defense should have plenty of talent to complement Mahomes and the offense over the upcoming years. Admittedly, elite interior defenderChris Jonesmay be on the decline after earning a career-low 70.5 PFF overall grade in 2025, so Kansas City should be looking for help along the defensive line. But as long as the defense is serviceable, the offense has all the tools to carry the team into the postseason, at the very least, every year.”

The truth is that the Chiefs have a lot of wear and tear. They are getting older and brittle. The offensive line is not very good. It will be interesting to see if tight end Travis Kelce is going to retire or not. The defense is also not the same.

Kansas City will also have the ninth overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. The Chiefs had no running game last season as well. This team might be closer to rebuilding rather than being a playoff contender in a loaded AFC here.
