Selena was born with stage 5 kidney disease. From the very beginning, her life was a fight. While other toddlers were learning to run and explore, Selena was connected to dialysis machines, IV lines, and hospital monitors. Her childhood unfolded beneath fluorescent lights, in ICU rooms, through surgeries and endless procedures.

And through it all, her mother never left her side.
Illyra lived between hope and heartbreak — packing hospital bags, whispering prayers, and waiting for the miracle of a kidney transplant. She dreamed of simple things: watching Selena run freely, hearing her laugh on a trip to Disneyland, seeing her live without tubes and machines.
But the transplant never came.

Selena’s tiny body grew tired. The battle she had fought so bravely became too heavy. And in a quiet, sacred moment, Illyra held her daughter close, whispering love as Selena slipped away.
“Selena went home with Jesus today,” she later shared — words filled with both faith and unimaginable pain.
In her short two years, Selena endured more than most do in a lifetime. Yet she remained a light. She loved Bluey. She clutched her Jesus doll for comfort. She smiled through the hardest days, teaching everyone around her what courage truly looks like.
Her life was brief — but it was powerful. Not measured in years, but in love.
