Liverpool Transfer Update: Yan Diomande’s Future Takes Another Twist as Cody Gakpo Sends Message to Andoni Iraola

Liverpool’s summer transfer business is far from over as new head coach Andoni Iraola continues shaping his squad ahead of the upcoming Premier League season. After securing the signing of Victor Munoz and preparing to welcome Jeremy Jacquet following his reported £55 million move, the Reds remain active in the market.

One of the biggest stories surrounding Liverpool this summer is the pursuit of RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande. The 19-year-old Ivory Coast international has been linked with Anfield for months, but Paris Saint-Germain also remain strong contenders for his signature.

According to reports from Germany, Diomande’s representatives at Roc Nation are encouraging RB Leipzig to consider Liverpool’s reported €100 million bid. However, the Bundesliga club is believed to value the young star closer to €120 million, leaving negotiations at a standstill.

Despite Liverpool’s interest, Diomande previously admitted that Paris Saint-Germain has always held a special place in his heart.

“Paris Saint-Germain is a club I’ve loved since I was a child. My father supports PSG, and it would be an honor to play there one day,” the winger reportedly said during the World Cup.

Meanwhile, another talking point has emerged from Liverpool’s current squad. Cody Gakpo has enjoyed an outstanding start to the 2026 FIFA World Cup with the Netherlands, scoring twice and providing an assist in a dominant victory over Sweden.

Following the match, Gakpo appeared to hint that he enjoys greater attacking freedom with the Dutch national team than he experienced at Liverpool last season. His comments could serve as an indirect message to Iraola, who now faces increased competition on the left wing with Victor Munoz, Rio Ngumoha, and Gakpo all battling for a starting role.

With pre-season approaching, Liverpool supporters can expect plenty more twists in what is already shaping up to be a fascinating summer transfer window.
