Liverpool full-back Calvin Ramsay has praised the intensity of Andoni Iraola’s training sessions as he continues to impress during the Reds’ pre-season tour of the United States.
The 23-year-old has featured against Sunderland and Wrexham during Liverpool’s preparations for the 2026-27 campaign and hopes to earn more minutes against Leeds United as he fights for his place in the squad.
Ramsay admitted he has enjoyed working under the club’s new head coach, highlighting the aggressive style being implemented.
“I’ve enjoyed it. It’s really intense, and he wants us constantly pressing and being aggressive and being able to defend and attack,” Ramsay said.
“It’s been good, I’ve enjoyed it. It’s obviously only been a few weeks, so hopefully I can stay here for a little bit longer and keep working with him and keep learning and get better.”
The Scottish defender also reflected on the value of his recent loan spells, believing they have helped prepare him for the demands of first-team football at Liverpool.
“I didn’t play as much as I would’ve liked to play, but it’s all learning and the games that I did play, it was a good experience to be involved in men’s football.”
“It’s a lot tougher than U21s football. It’s all valuable experience.”
Ramsay has also been pleased with his own contributions during pre-season after registering an assist against Sunderland.
“That’s obviously the plan when you come here. You want to play minutes and try to do as well as you can. I got an assist in the first game, which was nice.”
