Himalayan monal being considered one of the most beautiful and magnificent pheasant of Himalayan region. Currently it is the “State bird of Uttarakhand“. In India Himalayan monal is widely distributed in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh.
The Monal Pheasant is a relatively large pheasant. An adult male possess a long crest, and is feathered with multicoloured plumage tһгoᴜɡһoᴜt its body. Notable features in males are a long crest that is metallic green, changeable reddish copper on the back and sides of the neck and, a prominent white back and rump while in fɩіɡһt. Tail feathers of the males are uniformly rufous, being darker towards the tips.
