James Rodriguez, during his return to Real from 2017 to 2020, only played 14 matches totaling 728 minutes. Álvaro Odriozola, the most recent wearer of the number 16, played just 93 minutes for the team.
Initially, Real planned for Endrick to wear the number 9, but Kylian Mbappe took that number. Consequently, the 18-year-old became the new number 16. This is also the number Endrick wore at Palmeiras and his age when he first played for their first team. Some believe this number could bring him luck.
Real reached an agreement to sign the young Brazilian in December 2022. Signed by the reigning Champions League champions at the age of 18, Endrick is expected to shine and succeed at Santiago Bernabeu.
