A gentle giant’s courage shines through the shadows of cruelty. Rescued after a shocking viral video revealed her suffering, 17-year-old Niharkoli still trembles—but her spirit whispers a tale of resilience, survival, and hope. 🐘✨

The 17-year-old elephant Niharkoli, whose harrowing ordeal in Comilla’s Daudkandi went viral, has finally been rescued. The Forest Department successfully freed her, and she was released at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park in Gazipur at 3:30 PM on Saturday.

The distressing video showing Niharkoli being brutally beaten sparked outrage nationwide. Following its circulation, Syeda Rizwana Hasan, adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, issued an immediate directive for her rescue.

Inspector Ashim Malik confirmed that after being brought to the safari park, Niharkoli was cleaned, quarantined, and found to be in stable physical condition. Four people, including the mahout, were detained in connection with the abuse, while three minors involved were handed over to their relatives.
This rescue is a powerful reminder that compassion can prevail, and even after unimaginable suffering, hope and resilience can still shine through the darkest moments.
