What a true hero! 🐾 Dogs never cease to amaze us with their loyalty and courage.
Ella, a 7-year-old yellow Labrador Retriever, bravely risked her life to protect her family when a mountain lion approached their backyard in Utah on July 19.

According to her owner, Crystal Michaelis, the family was enjoying the outdoors when Ella began growling and backing away, clearly sensing danger. Though they couldn’t immediately see it, Ella knew something was near. Moments later, it became clear — a mountain lion was lurking close by.
Ella quickly put herself between the predator and the children, buying precious time for Michaelis to rush her kids inside to safety. Tragically, the loyal dog suffered over 30 bites, all on her head, face, legs, tongue, and neck. Despite the pain and injuries, she never backed down. 💔🙏

Michaelis recalled opening the patio door to find Ella covered in blood, evidence of the violent struggle she endured to protect her loved ones. Officers from the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources later confirmed mountain lion tracks at the scene, suggesting the animal had been drawn near by goats in a neighboring yard.
Ella’s sacrifice left the family shaken but forever grateful. “She was willing to give her life for us,” Michaelis said.

Thankfully, Ella survived the ordeal. 🦮💖 Her story is a powerful reminder of the unconditional love and devotion dogs have for their families.

Let’s give this four-legged hero the recognition she deserves — a medal, a standing ovation, and of course, a big juicy steak! 🥩🐶✨
