It all began with an act that touched hearts across the NFL: Phidarian Mathis — once homeless during his college years at Alabama —
“I know what it feels like to have nowhere to go… so I decided to be that place for her.”

From that moment, Mathis became more than just a football player — he became a symbol of compassion and unbreakable spirit.
Just one day after being officially signed to the Buffalo Bills’ 53-man roster
, defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis made headlines again, this time for a deeply personal reason — he reunited with his ex-girlfriend, Olivia. The two were seen leaving the team facility together Wednesday night, a moment teammates described as “warmer and more powerful than any touchdown.”Mathis’ road here hasn’t been easy. A
second-round pick by the Washington Commanders in 2022, he endured injuries, cuts, and practice-squad stints before joining Buffalo in September 2025. When DE Michael Hoecht suffered a season-ending Achilles tear, Mathis earned his long-awaited promotion — and made the most of it.
But behind his success lies a story of sacrifice. Upon entering the league, Mathis famously spent his entire $2.6 million signing bonus
to buy his mother a house, a gesture of love that inadvertently led to his breakup with Olivia, who felt neglected as he focused entirely on family and survival.
Now, fate has come full circle. Olivia returned to his life just one day after his official signing, realizing, as a close friend shared, “The same heart that gave everything to his mom and that little girl — that’s the same heart that once loved her.”
On the field, Mathis has recorded three tackles in his two recent appearances, showcasing the same perseverance that defines his personal journey. After practice, he spoke softly but with conviction:
“I don’t have a lot, but I have love — and I’m never letting it slip away again.”
Now, with a permanent roster spot, a home for his mother, a daughter he once saved, and the love of his life back by his side,
Phidarian Mathis stands as proof that those who give selflessly eventually find everything they were meant to have.
Micah Parsons makes controversial statement on NFL officiating, “I’m going to get a fine for this”

Green Bay, WI – October 16, 2025
Tensions between players and referees in the NFL have flared again — this time after Green Bay Packers defensive end Micah Parsons delivered a blunt message about league officiating during his Thursday press conference, saying he’s prepared to be fined for speaking out.
Before the 2025 season began, Green Bay made headlines when they traded for the four-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro from the Dallas Cowboys, sending Kenny Clark and two future first-round picks to acquire Parsons. The move was intended to revive the Packers’ struggling pass rush after a disappointing 2024 campaign.
Six weeks into the season, however, the Packers’ defense has tallied just 12 sacks, with Parsons accounting for 2.5 of them. Though he’s consistently pressuring quarterbacks, the team hasn’t yet seen the explosion of big plays they envisioned. Parsons believes the reason isn’t about effort — but officiating.
During his press availability, Parsons didn’t hold back, accusing NFL officials of favoring offensive players to keep scoring high:
“Five years of not getting a call, you eventually stop worrying about it,”
Parsons said. “They don’t call offsides for offense, but they’ll call it on defense. They won’t call offensive pass interference, but they’ll call defensive pass interference immediately. They wanna load the points up so fans can be happy. They’ll call defensive holding, but not offensive holding. Let’s just wake up.”
Then, with a wry smile, Parsons added, “I might get a fine for this press conference.”
Head coach Matt LaFleur later acknowledged Parsons’ frustration, saying he plans to speak with officials before Sunday’s game about
holding calls against his star pass rusher.
For now, Green Bay fans stand firmly behind Parsons, echoing his sentiment that referees have been letting too much slide when it comes to blocking him. Whether the NFL responds — or fines him — remains to be seen. But one thing is clear:
Micah Parsons isn’t afraid to challenge the system, even if it costs him.
