Sweet baby Dakota Milo Cox went home to Heaven on Friday, November 28, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at just 4 months and 4 days old. Born on July 24, 2025, in Tulsa to Destiny Alexis (Shipman) and Christian Cox, Dakota’s time on earth was short — but the love he inspired was immeasurable.

His mother shared words that capture the depth of their love and the courage of her little boy:
“We got to hold him and love on him before he passed. You were such a brave warrior. You fought the hardest fight of your life. You were so strong. You were so special to so many people. You were loved by soooo many. The nurses and staff adored you — you were the highlight of their day. Even when Dakota wasn’t their patient, they came to say hi, tell him to behave, wag their fingers at him, and pray over him every single day. Mommy, Daddy, and your brothers will miss you dearly. Bubba, we love you so, so, so much. Kota Bear is now in the arms of Jesus.”
Dakota leaves behind his loving parents, Destiny and Christian; his big brothers, Lucas and Waylon; and a large family of grandparents who cherished him deeply, including maternal grandparents Jennifer Young, Lenora Wickham, Ruth Wickham, Rick Fielden, Sharyl Wheeling, and Hayden Blankenbicker, and paternal grandparents Tricia and Zachary Cox, John and Janet Martin, Donna Beach, Patricia Cox, Joe Fowler, Allen Cox, Ray Mayes, and Betty Blumhost.
A funeral service honoring Dakota’s precious life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 5, 2025, at Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor. He will be laid to rest at Graham Memorial Cemetery, also in Pryor.
Visitation for family and friends will take place from 6:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Shipman’s Funeral Home.
