AUSTRALIA: DOG IN A LIFE JACKET SAVES YOUNG BOY FROM DROWNING AT SEA
A brave dog has saved a young child’s life who was “just seconds” away from drowning after getting into difficulties in the deepest part of a river.
Staffy cross Max swam out after the distressed child started having difficulties in the river mouth of Port Noarlunga, South Australia.
Wearing his life jacket – complete with a handle the boy could cling onto – the pooch managed to drag the youngster back to the safety of dry land.
His owner, Rob Osborn, was the first to spot the boy in distress from the sand of the riverbank, but before he could launch his rescue attempt, Max had already set off.

Rob told the child to call Max’s name so that he would swim to him and then grab the handle on the life jacket to swim back to shore.
Adorable footage, shared by 7 News, recreates the incredible scenes, with the pup guiding the boy through the water with his life jacket on.
Witness Nevaeh Osborn said the situation was so serious that the boy was “bound to drown any second” if they hadn’t stepped in.
“He’s definitely a hero,” Rob said. “He doesn’t know it, he was just doing what he was told.”

Once the young boy was rescued, Max received some much-deserved cuddles while the mother thanked Rob.
But the hero dog and his family had to leave soon after and couldn’t exchange details.
“I’d love to catch up with him and see how he’s doing, just to see if he’s alright,” Rob added.
