Lizzy Tomber’s journey defies conventional expectations of pregnancy and fitness. Despite carrying her child, she remained devoted to her passion for acroyoga, a fusion of acrobatics and yoga. Teaming up with her husband, Josh Young, they continued their intricate balance routines and daring poses even as her belly expanded. Seeking approval from her obstetrician was Lizzy’s first step, and she was pleasantly surprised by the doctor’s encouragement.
Recognizing acroyoga as an integral part of Lizzy’s routine, the doctor supported her decision to continue. With that approval in hand, Lizzy continued her practice diligently. While expecting, Lizzy and Josh, who usually globe-trot teaching acroyoga, took a break, settling in Washington, D.C., in anticipation of their baby’s arrival. Remarkably, Lizzy persisted in her acroyoga practice until just a few days before giving birth.
Now, with her newborn son David in her arms, Lizzy wasted no time reintegrating acroyoga into her life. She’s gradually involving David in the art form, introducing him to acrobatic movements. Her hope is that he’ll grow up enjoying acrobatics as much as she does.
Lizzy’s story is a testament to the fact that, with proper consultation and dedication, expectant mothers can pursue their passions and maintain active lifestyles during pregnancy. Her journey challenges societal norms, inspiring others to embrace fitness and passion, even amid the beautiful phase of pregnancy.
