Identification & Behavior: ~11.5 cm (4.5 in). The male Black-throated Mango is green above and mostly black below. The black below may be dіffісᴜɩt to distinguish from the dагk green in рooг light. The female is green above and white below with a black median stripe along the underparts. Both sexes have a purple tail. The female has a broad black terminal tail band. The Rufous-breasted Hermit has a bright rufous tail, but it has a rufous breast. The similar and closely related Green-throated Mango occurs only in northwest Peru.
Status: The Black-throated Mango is uncommon and widespread in Amazonia where it is known to range up to 900 m along the foothill of the Andes. It also occurs in Co, Ec, Br, and Bo.
