Amazing footage shows a kookaburra thrashing a snake against a fence as the reptile desperately tries to break free.
The native Australian bird was captured in a battle of life and death with a python by US woman Lauren Rapoport in north Queensland.
Onlookers were left stunned as they watched the pair fight it out for over half an hour.

The python attempted to bite the bird but began to deteriorate with the tight grip of the kookaburra’s beak.
‘Every time the snake would inch its way up to wrap around or try to bite the kookaburra, the kookaburra would whip the python onto the fence post,’ Ms Rapoport told Yahoo News.
‘Unfortunately at the point I coughed the bird went flying off into the trees with its very tired and weak prize.

Ms Rapoport said the onlookers were ‘sad’ the snake had lost the battle.
Kookaburras are carnivorous birds who prey on snakes, mice, insects and even the young of other birds.
Snakes are a favourite of the native bird who use a ‘wait and swoop’ technique to catch them with their beak, according to the Australian Reptile Park.
