The primary source of food for this bird ѕрeсіeѕ is the nectar found in small flowers of vines, trees, and epiphytes. To feed on the nectar, they hover and lick it with their tongues 13 times in a single second. Although, these birds also add insects and spiders to their diet.
During the breeding season, both male and female hummingbirds have the ability to mate with as many as seven different partners of the opposite ѕex.
Once they have found a partner, female birds construct their nests using plant fibers and spider webs on a tiny twig or vine. The nests are shaped like a cup, and the females lay two eggs inside them. They nurture the eggs for roughly two weeks, carefully incubating them, before feeding the newborn chicks until they reach maturity.
