Real Madrid young star was given a chance by Türkiye at Euro 2024

The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has announced a preliminary list of 35 players for Euro 2024. Included in this list is 19-year-old Real Madrid star Arda Güler. Alongside Güler, the preliminary squad features other young talents performing well in European leagues, such as Kenan Yıldız from Juventus, Can Uzun from Nürnberg, and forwards Semih Kılıçsoy and Bertuğ Yıldırım from Besiktas.

Arda Güler had an impressive season with Real Madrid, winning the 2023-2024 La Liga title. The young Turkish player appeared in 10 matches and scored 6 goals for “Los Blancos.” Due to his remarkable performance, Güler is now highly sought after by many major European clubs.

Serie A champion Hakan Çalhanoğlu from Inter Milan has been called up to the Turkish national team along with Champions League finalist Salih Özcan from Borussia Dortmund.

Several promising Turkish players in the Premier League, such as Bournemouth’s forward Enes Ünal, West Brom’s midfielder Okay Yokuşlu, Hull City’s midfielder Abdülkadir Ömür, and Leicester City’s winger Yunus Akgün, have also been included in coach Vincenzo Montella’s 35-man squad.

At Euro 2016, Turkey reached the finals as the best-performing third-placed team in the qualifiers. Returning to the Euro finals after eight years, Turkey is set to bring their best squad to Germany, aiming for a deep run in the tournament.
