The baby can mangut slender after slamming on the body of a boomslang snake that has come forward, trying to use its characteristic teeth to grab its prey.
With extremely strong venom, enough to kill humans, boomslang snakes are one of the most feared predators in the wild. However, this snake sometimes cannot avoid becoming a meal for other animals, such as mongooses.
The mongoose looks so small, but after climbing up the tree, it jumped on the boomslang snake and gradually approached the snake’s head.
Noticing the point, the snake tried to crawl away, shaking the tree to push down the civet but to no avail.
When approaching within range, the mongoose opened its mouth and grabbed the boomslang snake’s head. In front of the civet’s sharp teeth, the boomslang snake could not move and resist.
Sometimes, boomslang snakes try to wrap their bodies around their attackers or kill them with extremely poisonous bites, but all is just a struggle in the heat.
This whole scene of 1 – 0 – 2 bait was taken by Elana Erasmus, 48, a tourist from South Africa. Elana shared: “We were on our way back to camp after a morning photo session when our guide spotted a boomslang snake on a tree by the road. We immediately realized this was a rare moment so all the cameras were turned towards it.”
