Surprised with 29 images capturing the moment: Mother giving birth unexpectedly on the side of the road

A mother who gave birth on a Manhattan sidewalk returned to her apartment, filled with joy, alongside her husband and their newborn daughter, whom they named after a Good Samaritan who assisted them.

Polly McCourt, accompanied by her husband Cian, arrived back at their Upper East Side home two days after the dramatic birth on a busy street corner. The birth occurred after an impatient woman stole her cab, forcing Polly to deliver her baby on the sidewalk.

Isabel Williams, a kind-hearted individual who lent her coat to keep the baby warm, explained that her actions were purely instinctive.

Polly McCourt, 39, shared her experience of trying to hail a cab on the Upper East Side but realizing it was too late, leading to her giving birth to baby Ila on the sidewalk.

“You just do what you have to do, you know?” she told The New York Daily News.

Isabel Williams noticed a commotion on the corner of 68th street and 3rd Avenue on Monday afternoon and initially thought that someone had been involved in an accident. When she approached the crowd, she quickly dialed 911 after realizing that no one had called an ambulance.
