Diogo Jota was given a tribute before the start of Portugal’s campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup against DR Congo.
During the Portuguese national anthem, the large screens at the stadium showed pictures of the late Liverpool striker.
The cameras were also able to capture the reactions of Jota’s parents, who were invited to attend the match.
Diogo’s father and mother both looked overwhelmed and quite emotional during that moment, fighting hard to keep the tears from rolling in.
Portugal players, of course, are paying a sweet tribute for Jota by wearing wristbands featuring his name at the World Cup.
