Tiny Pink Baby Found Struggling On The Ground Is Unrecognizable Now
He was the smallest rescuers had ever seen
Alone on the ground in an urban area in Johannesburg, South Africa, a tiny baby animal struggled to survive. When a Good Samaritan saw the little fella in danger, they contacted Johannesburg Wildlife Veterinary Hospital for help.

“He was the smallest bush baby I’ve ever seen,” a representative from the hospital said in a video for The Dodo.
Bush babies, or galagos, are fluffy nocturnal primates native to sub-Saharan Africa. According to Britannica, bush babies are known for their large eyes and ears, as well as their boundless energy and agility.

Rescuers named the bush baby Pebble and made sure he had everything he needed to grow.
“Initially I was quite concerned because he was so small,” the representative said. “After about a week or two, he started growing really nicely. He almost doubled in weight, and he was drinking really well and looking strong and moving around. So at that point, I felt a lot more optimistic that he was going to make it.”
Eventually, Pebble looked unrecognizable.

After about three months, Pebble was soft-released into a safe environment where he could adjust and learn necessary skills.
Pebble quickly made friends with his group of five other rescued bush babies.
“They’re all getting on very well,” the representative said. “They all sleep together in a tiny, little house during the day, even though they have lots of sleeping options.”

Happy with his new family, Pebble is learning everything he needs to know about being a bush baby. Soon, he’ll be fully released into the wild, free to lead the life he deserves.
