New head coach Xabi Alonso has played a key role in the move, identifying Stiller as a long-term successor to Toni Kroos and Luka Modric. Stiller’s composure on the ball, ability to dictate tempo, and tactical discipline make him a perfect fit for Alonso’s strategic vision.
Talks with Stuttgart are in the final stages, with the club eager to finalize the transfer before the FIFA Club World Cup kicks off on June 14, 2025. The goal is to integrate Stiller swiftly into the squad alongside other new arrivals, including Dean Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
In that pool of central midfield names that Madrid is considering, one of the most highly-sought-after players is 24-year-old Angelo Stiller from Stuttgart.
Stiller fits in with Real Madrid’s new project. A young, but proven player (he would be playing in the Nations League final four if he hadn’t been injured in the Cup final), he’s affordable and appeals to Xabi, who knows him well from his time in the Bundesliga. According to AS, Real Madrid has yet to make a move on either the player or Stuttgart. They’re just waiting. But Stiller is delighted with the idea of wearing the white shirt next season. For that to happen, Real Madrid must negotiate with Stuttgart, who are planning to sell their budding star for a fee of no less than €50 million.

Stiller has a release clause in his contract that allows him to leave for €36 million, but not until 2026. However, if Stuttgart want to void that clause, they can do so by paying the midfielder €2 million before the start of 2026. Stiller, who came through Bayern ‘s youth system, cost Stuttgart €5.5 million last summer. He transferred from Hoffenheim , where he had joined on a free transfer.
