September is NICU Awareness Month, and as I reflect on where we started, my heart swells with both gratitude and pain. I’ll never forget the sight of my sweet Baylor, so tiny and fragile, surrounded by tubes, wires, and the beeping of monitors. For 56 days, he fought with all his might, proving to me that miracles are real. Those days in the NICU were filled with fear, prayers, and countless tears, but through it all, Baylor showed me something that words can barely capture—true strength.

As a parent, there is nothing more terrifying than seeing your child in such a vulnerable state. Watching Baylor fight for his life in the NICU, hooked up to machines, was a constant reminder of how fragile life can be. Yet, in the face of all the uncertainty, Baylor never gave up. Even in those early days when he had no voice to speak, he showed me what strength truly meant. He fought every day, proving that despite the odds, he was a fighter, and he was determined to survive.

In those moments, as I watched him struggle to breathe and fight for his life, I couldn’t help but pray for him, beg for his strength, and trust that God had a purpose for him. Every time his heart rate dropped or the machines would beep, my heart would race in fear. But with each passing day, Baylor grew stronger, and I found myself holding on to hope. I prayed for his recovery, for his future, and for the chance to see him thrive, outside of that sterile, overwhelming environment.

Now, as I look at my beautiful boy today, I am filled with awe at how far he has come. Baylor’s resilience in those early days is a reminder of how precious life is and how capable our little ones are of overcoming challenges that seem insurmountable. Every laugh, every cry, every milestone he’s reached since those NICU days feels like a victory. From his first breath outside of the NICU to every little achievement since, each moment has been a testament to his strength and the grace of God.

Baylor, you are my greatest blessing, my living proof that God still works wonders. I often find myself reflecting on how far we’ve come, and I am overwhelmed with gratitude. The miracle of watching you grow, thrive, and flourish has filled my heart in ways I never imagined possible. You have shown me what true strength is, and I will forever be thankful for the gift of being your mom.
Looking back, it’s hard to put into words the emotions of those NICU days. The uncertainty, the fear, the waiting—it was all so overwhelming. But even in those darkest moments, there was always hope. And now, as I see you smile, laugh, and reach milestones, I am reminded of how blessed I am to be your mom. You have taught me more about love, faith, and perseverance than I could have ever imagined.
Baylor, my sweet boy, you are my miracle. Every day with you is a gift, and I am so thankful that God allowed me to be the one to hold your hand through it all. You are my greatest joy, and I will never stop thanking God for giving me the honor of being your momma.

So as we mark NICU Awareness Month, I reflect on the journey we’ve been on, the struggles we’ve faced, and the miracles that have brought us here. I know that there are many other families still facing the uncertainty of the NICU, and my heart goes out to them. I pray that they, too, will witness the miracle of their little ones overcoming the odds.
Baylor, I love you more than words can say. You are my warrior, my miracle, and my greatest gift. I am forever grateful for the privilege of being your momma. You are proof that miracles happen every day, and I will never stop thanking God for you.
With love and gratitude, thank you for being my miracle.
