In a quiet neighborhood of Southern California, a concerned resident called Logan’s Legacy dog rescue after spotting three tiny pups abandoned on the streets. Suzette Hall, founder of the rescue, couldn’t reach them until later that day, but friends nearby rushed to check on the little family.
When Hall’s team arrived, the scene was exactly as reported: three pups huddled together on the sidewalk, backs pressed tightly to each other, eyes alert as if guarding one another. Despite the scorching sun, they wouldn’t move from their post.

“They just sat on the corner and waited,” Hall shared with The Dodo. “They were expecting their family to come back.”
Neighbors revealed the heartbreaking truth: the dogs had been left near Magic Johnson Park in Los Angeles. Their family drove off, leaving the trio to scramble for safety. The pups ran into the park, huddling together amid the traffic, narrowly avoiding cars.

Rescuers usually rely on humane traps for shy strays, but these pups had other ideas.
“We just offered food, and they came right to us,” Hall said. “The little girl trusted us immediately, and her two brothers followed right behind her. They wouldn’t be apart.”
Once inside the van, Hall noticed how much care they needed. Each pup was matted and crawling with ticks—over 40 on each. Still, the relief of being together and safe was unmistakable. On the way to a foster home, the trio remained inseparable, and once there, the pups were bathed, groomed, and free of parasites. That night, they cuddled close, the comfort of siblings stronger than anything else.
“Many street dogs bond out of necessity, but these three are truly inseparable,” Hall explained. “They cry if one goes outside without the others.”

Now named Polly, Damien, and Barkley, the pups are in foster care, awaiting a loving forever home. Hall hopes they can be adopted together so their bond stays unbroken.
“It would be amazing if all three could find a home together—they’re so sweet,” Hall said.
Though they no longer need to survive on the streets, one thing hasn’t changed: they stick together, come what may.
