Victor Munoz is set to miss almost an entire pre-season ahead of his first campaign with Liverpool.
With Spain beating Belgium for a place in the World Cup semi-final, Munoz is set to spend another week in the United States, regardless of whether La Roja can beat France.
Due to the official requirement to give players at least three weeks off, Munoz is set to report to his new club only on the weekend of August 9.
On that day, Liverpool will face Monaco at Anfield, with Munoz highly unlikely to feature. His unofficial debut may come the following weekend, when Como will arrive at Merseyside.
The home game against the Serie A side will be the last before the Premier League starts. As fate would have it, Liverpool will visit Newcastle on the opening weekend, which means Munoz can begin the season at St James’ Park anyway.
