Central Poland is celebrating a rare and joyous event: the arrival of three white lion cubs at the Borysew Zoo! These tiny, snowy-coated cubs are being tenderly cared for by their devoted mother, Azira, while their father, Sahim, keeps a watchful eye nearby.
White lions are exceptionally rare — a color mutation of the Kruger subspecies — with only about 90 known worldwide, mostly in South African reserves or select zoos. The birth of triplets is even more extraordinary, given the challenges white lion mothers sometimes face, from maternal rejection to potential health issues.

Since their birth on January 28, Azira has been a devoted mother, nurturing and feeding her cubs with care, much to the delight of zoo staff. The cubs will eventually be named once their genders are easier to identify, and visitors can expect to see them exploring their outdoor habitat starting in April.

For the Borysew Zoo, which also houses white tigers and camels, this rare event is a highlight of the year, enchanting the 160,000 visitors who came last year.
