Villa Draman: Emre Acar’s Architectural Masterpiece

Villa Draman is a place that welcomes its guests with intense plants and water sounds coming from the small waterfall. The project was designed by architect Emre Acar, owner of Acararch architecture firm, and Çağrı Helvacıoğlu Aydoğu from his team. Acararch treats plants, sounds, and natural light as a design element of both outdoors and indoors. From the beginning of the project, with blending the serenity of minimalism with special details and combining the natural-looking materials such as wood and linen with bold colors, a useful and impressive architectural language was aimed. Acararch aimed to create a spacious environment by effortlessly adding the power of the landscape and natural lights to its designs with the glass openings.

The homeowners defined their dream house as a quiet but impressive minimal living space that is away from the chaos of urban life. To meet the daily needs of the homeowners, the design team and homeowners were in constant communication during the design process. Since it is a house to be used periodically; natural-looking, maintenance-free, and long-lasting materials such as coated wood and stone-like porcelain materials were preferred in line with the wishes of the homeowners for both economic reasons and ease of use.

In two-storey villa, which is located on an area of 750 sqm including the pool in Gündoğan, the bedrooms of the owners and their two sons with private bathrooms are located upstairs, while two guest rooms with private bathrooms, a utility room, housework room, bathroom, and living area are located downstairs. By not using dividing elements in the living area, the kitchen area, lounge area, and dining area are in a holistic flow. Thanks to the fully opening glass facade between the dining area and the garden, the living area and the garden’s relationship was strengthened. Thanks to the louvered window used at the ceiling of the dining area, controlled natural light was included in the place. While the two bedrooms on the upper floor are considered as a children’s room with their bathrooms, a master bedroom with bathroom is added later. The new bedroom was built without the addition of external walls to the existing walls. Just eaves and glass facades were used to create a new simple and transparent bedroom. Thanks to the glass facades that continue over the bookcase wall, the impressive panoramic view which is an advantage of the location of the villa was highlighted. The wishes of the homeowners for children’s rooms were to create a dynamic feeling while maintaining the minimal and simple language of the house. That minimal and dynamic ambiance was created and functional requirements were fulfilled with the yellow and white bedhead unit that was designed in a similar design language in both children’s rooms to meet the storage space required for toys and books.
